BBMP opens up the illegal layout, plans fir bio-methane plant set-up

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagere Palike (BBMP) has crashed into the land sharks in Jakkur ward, based in Yelahanka region.

As much as 5.5 acres of land with survey number 99 in the Kogilu village was identified for establishing a bio-methane plant, as per the information released by BBMP. But, the allotted land was supposedly subjected to encroachment by the private developer and a layout was curated catering to the civic amenities with a compound wall enclosing it.

BBMP Joint Commissioner Sarafaraz Khan along with other engineers visited the spot and destroyed the non-authorized compound walls, drains and several other structures. They also issued an order to the zonal engineers for lodging an FIR against the enroachers.

According to the suggested recommendations of National Green Tribunal (NGT), the BBMP had proposed for establishing a bio-methane plant in the area. But, the land was not given any attention for a very long period, thereby giving an open floor to the enroachers and land sharks from the North Bengaluru to keep eyeing at the property land.

SWN Special Commissioner, D Randeep, revealed about the issued tender for establishing a unit in the allotted area and the bids have been acquired. Randeep also gave a heads-up for commencing the project, which will probably be by March.

As of now, there are 13 Bio-plants established by BBMP so far, but not all of them are regularly operational. So, there are rising questions about the Kogilu village plant and its utilization factor.
