The Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF), the federation of more than 950 apartment complexes had initiated the #Vax4Allcampaign on May 29 for conducting the vaccination drive for residents belonging to the resident welfare associations throughout the city of Bengaluru. This is after the city has been in a lockdown for over a month, and the move is initiated to reduce the burden on the healthcare infrastructure.
BAF revealed its collaboration with the top-hospital chains such as Manipal Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, Narayana Health and Apollo Hospitals for conducting the vaccination camps for residents as well as for domestic/housekeeping workers appointed in the complex. In a statement, BAF said, “Through this campaign, BAF plans to support about two lakh households across their member network with more than a million residents and staff who could avail the benefit.”
Gaurav Gupta, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner, launched the drive on the virtual platform. Gupta said, “While the number of cases is coming down, we need to continue taking essential measures to ensure that the current peak is effectively contained and future preparedness is built in. Vaccination is a very important step towards that – vaccine supplies are getting better too, with Bengaluru having vaccinated more than 1 lakh people yesterday (May 28).”
The BAF Team consisting of resident HA Nagaraja Rao, Vice President K Arun Kumar and General Secretary Vikram Rai stated that BAF will be working towards facilitating that maximum RWAs assure the services and the focus groups like 60+ and 45+ categories are given higher priority.
