Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has launched 24/7 Covid-19 testing facility, which is a boost to the city’s Covid-19 testing amenities. The testing unit is an RT-PCR centre, right in the vicinity of the arrival terminal. The unit;s management and operations are under Bengaluru-origin Auriga Research Private Limited.

According to an official statement released by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the sample collection booth will be within the premises of the terminal and a well-equipped laboratory will be outside the terminal and there will also be a waiting lunge strictly according to the Covid-19 protocols. The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have certified the testing facility.

This testing centre is of great assistance to the international passengers who could not get the Covid-19 test report before boarding their flight. The statement further added, “The service will be available to departing passengers, who need to undergo an RT-PCR test before travelling and produce a Covid-19 negative test report at their destination.”

As per the express test method under the Abbott ID NOW, the results of the test would be available in less than 15 minutes, unlike the usual time of 6 hours. The statement added that till the results of the test are released, the tested ones would be instructed to be in the specific waiting zone.

The reports would be given via the digital platforms. Adhering to the government rules and requirements, the results will be updated on the ICMR website.

The testing slot can be confirmed by booking priorly on the website – https://testing-lab.com/covid19-testing-center/

The passengers who tested positive in the RT-PCR test will be processed according to the Standard Operating Procedures formulated by the BIAL adhering to the guidelines given by the higher authorities.
