Mumbai, November 26: Following the announcement of the Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 results, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is set to resign on November 28. The process of forming a new government in the state has begun.
In the elections, the BJP emerged as the largest party, winning 132 seats. With the support of the 230 legislators from the ‘Mahayuti’ alliance, which includes BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), the party is poised to form the government. Shiv Sena secured 57 seats, while NCP won 41 seats.
Resignation Process:
As the current Assembly term ends on November 28, CM Eknath Shinde will meet the Governor at 11 AM to submit his resignation. Shinde, who became Chief Minister in 2022 with the support of the Mahayuti alliance, has served for two and a half years.
Special Prayers by Supporters:
Shinde’s supporters across the state are offering prayers for his reappointment as Chief Minister. Special rituals are being conducted in temples, and his well-wishers are extending their support through these acts of faith.
Election Results and Leadership Speculation:
In the 2024 elections, Eknath Shinde won the Kopri-Panchkhadi constituency with 159,060 votes, defeating his opponent by a margin of 120,717 votes. The BJP, having won 132 seats, is expected to claim the Chief Minister’s post this time.
