Heavy rain creates havoc in North Karnataka

North Karnataka is experiencing extremely heavy rainfall from the past three days which has invoked inundation, crop loss, and also devastated the houses, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC).

As per the information given by KSNDMC officials, all major dams based in Cauvery and Krishna basins are completely full and their floodgates to be opened again. The officials mentioned that Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Bidar are the most affected districts as small streams were outpouring and many lakes are overflowing and inundating villages.

In the Kalaburagi district for the Chincholi Taluk, the stop gates of Nagarla and Chandrampalli lakes were unlocked, which flooded the surrounding villages in the vicinity.

The lives of the people were disturbed with the extreme rainfall that was outpouring a major lake in the Aland Taluk of Kalaburagi district. The torrential rain in the Yargol village in Yadgir district, the overflowing of water from the lakes caused damage to crops and water-logging. The KSNDMC had anticipated on Tuesday moderate to heavy rains in the northern part of the Karnataka, and also the interior and coastal Karnataka for the next 24 hours.
