Bengaluru, November 26: After a brief respite from rain, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Bengaluru Center has issued a significant alert, forecasting heavy rainfall across Karnataka due to a low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal. The rains are expected to continue until December 4, affecting several districts in the state.
According to the IMD, a low-pressure area has developed over the southwest Bay of Bengal, which intensified early on Tuesday, moving northwestward at a speed of 12 km/h. This system is likely to further strengthen within the next 24 hours, potentially transforming into a cyclonic circulation by the evening of November 27.
The intensified low-pressure system is predicted to bring heavy rains starting November 28, lasting until December 4. Key districts expected to witness significant rainfall include Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Mandya, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and others.
In northern Karnataka, colder temperatures are likely to prevail, with isolated areas receiving light rainfall.READ THIS- Eknath Shinde Resigns: Supporters Turn to Prayers, Mahayuti Prepares to Form Government
