India, China formalized the three-step disengagement plan from Pangong lake area

India-China border conflict issue may soon be resolved with the agreement of the army of both sides for implementing the absolute disengagement from Eastern Ladakh Centre and moving back confined to their own territories prior to the time frame of April-May.

The disengagement was finalized on November 6, amid the 8^th Corps Commander level talk conducted in Chushul.

According to sources, the disengagement plan to be implemented in three steps over period of one week after the Chushul meeting, which would include moving back the armoured vehicles and the personnel carriers by a significant distance from the Line of Actual Control (LAC). According to the interaction between both countries, the movement to be done within a day.

The discussion was held in between External Affairs Ministry’s Joint Secretary Naveen Shrivastava and Brigadier Ghai representing the Directorate General of Military Operations.

The second step consisted of consecutively withdrawing nearly 30 per cent of the troops every day for three days. The Indian side would be inching towards its administrative Dhan Singh Thapa post, and likewise, the Chinese had agreed to go back to Finger 8.

The final step, both sides have to withdraw from their respective positions at the frontline along the southern bank of Pangong lake area, which is inclusive of the heights and territories surrounding Chushul and Rezand and Le area.

The Indian side is taking the steps very carefully, as with the lack of trust over China’s actions pertaining to the clash in the Galwan valley where 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives.

To answer to the same, PM Narendra Modi’s security team, comprising of National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane and Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria had implemented strong actions which included occupying the heights based alonfg the southern and northern bank of Pangong Lake over the LAC which also consisted of Ane La and Que La features.

To the tough fight given China along the border, IAF made rapid deployments over the frontline where its fighter jets and attackers were all set along with the deployed Garud Forces for approaching the enemy aircraft.
