Karnataka govt: Degree, Diploma and engineering colleges to reopen on Nov 17

The Karnataka Government has taken the decision announced on Friday to resume the engineering, degree and diploma colleges from November 17, which were closed from March to stop the spread of Covid-19 infection.

Regarding the update, Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan stated, “In a meeting that took place under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister it was decided to reopen degree college from November 17. Engineering, diploma and degree colleges will all start.”

The discussion meeting about resuming offline classes was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and the officials from different sectors of health, social welfare, backward class, transport and education departments along with Narayan, who is also holds post in Higher Education Department.

Post the meeting, Ashwath Narayan addressed the reporters, when he mentioned that the students will be given the selective choice to physically attend the classes or virtually, and can also opt for a blend of both learning options.

He said, “Students can register online, those students wanting to attend classes by coming to colleges should have consent from their parents. Depending on the strength- how the classes have to be held, in how many batches- everything will be decided along with all the necessary safety SOPs.”

Regarding the students who will reside in ST/SC, social welfare and OBC hostels, Narayan said all the adequate safety measures will be implemented along with that the required arrangements for transport will be done for smooth execution of classes.
