Over 10 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been given to the healthcare and frontline workers of the country from the initiation of the largest vaccination drive in the world on January 16, as per the data released on the dashboard of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
As per the data, 10,188,007 doses have been administered in the first phase of the vaccination drive. The count reflects the healthcare workers who have been given the second dose along with the healthcare and frontline workers who have been administered the first year.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Health Ministry said that eleven states which comprises of Bihar, Tripura, Odisha, Lakshadweep, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh where over 75 per cent of the registered healthcare workers have received the first dose.
A count of 32 people have succumbed to the vaccine shot, till Thursday evening, revealed the Ministry. From the 32, 13 deaths happened in the hospital and 19 of them died outside the hospital premises. The statement added there were no cases of severe/serious Adverse event following Immunization (AFI)/death attributed to inoculation.
The statement added that the highest vaccination has been recorded in the states – Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.
As of Friday, the total number of Covid-19 cases amount to 10,963,394 and as many as 13,193 cases have been reported over the last 24 hours. Around 156,111 people have died and 10,667,741 have recovered from it.
