The private school management of Karnatka are pressuring the state government to fulfil the demands or they will stop the online classes and the next academic year. The decision was taken on Monday at the meeting held by the Karnataka private schools managements with the Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Co-ordination Committee (KPMTCC).
The sheer negligence of the government over the condition of the private schools has induced KPMTCC to take the decision.
The committee members have presented the demands prior to the government which emphasized financial support for teaching and non-teaching staff working with private schools.
While addressing the media after the meeting, Dr Shashi D, convenor of the Committee stated, “We have decided not to resume classes for the 2021-22 academic year if the government fails to fulfill our demands.”
The Committee members further said, “We have lost some of our management members, teachers and non-teaching staff due to Covid-19 and some died of suicide due to financial crisis. We demand justice for the entire community.”
The second demand was about the mandatory enrollment of the children in the schools. Shashi Kumar stated, “During 2020-21 academic year many children were not enrolled to schools, but attended online classes and did not pay the fees. This causes injustice to those who have enrolled and paid fees. This year, we demand the government to ensure that an order is issued, directing parents to enroll children compulsorily.”
The third demand presented by the committee is to make attendance compulsory, whether the mode of learning is online or offline. Kumar said, “For continuous learning, it is important for children to attend classes and participate in the assignments given by schools, online or offline.”
