Yediyurappa: 2021-22 Karnataka Budget to focus on women and development

The Karnataka Budget 2021-22 would be focused on development works and women’s welfare, revealed Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday. At a public event at Soraba in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, Yediyurappa said, “The state budget for the ensuing fiscal will give priority to development works and women’s welfare. This is my assurance to all women in the state.”

The budget session which last for around 30 days will commence on March 4 and Yediyurappa who is in-charge of the finance portfolio and will present the Budget scheduled for March 8 in the legislative assembly.

The pandemic, which was first discovered as a case in Karnataka on March 8, 2020 out an halt to all the development projects which were scheduled for 2020-21, but the budget allocations were spent on Covid-19 induced lockdown and restrictions to curb the transmission of Covid-19.

While recalling the occasion, Yediyurappa said, “Besides coronavirus, heavy rains and floods during the extended southwest monsoon in August-October have also reduced tax collections and revenue mobilisation, as the economy was unlocked gradually and the new normal set in to check the pandemic.”

The BJP-led Karnataka government had to borrow and raise loans for managing the required resources for development projects since November as the allocated funds were used for Covid-10 war over 10 months.
