Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa headed panel committee will formed for reviewing the Covid-19 vaccination in the state, with the government determined that over 29,451 vaccination sites.
After a video-conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, Home Minister Basavraj Bommai stated the government is making several plans to make up the similar arrangements for elections as for administering the vaccine to the population.
Bommai said, “Prime Minister Modi has said that arrangements for vaccination centres must be similar to preparations at the booth level for elections. These centres should be formed and workers should be trained for the exercise.”
Apart from the state-level committee, there will be committees at the district level and taluk level for reviewing the vaccination drives.
Bommai pointed out the priority list for vaccine administration, which includes 30 crore people, from the entire population where 1 crore will be the healthcare workers and medicine students, two crore Corona warriors, and the remaining 26 crore will be the population above the age criteria of 50 years and the last 1 crore will be the below 50 age-group with co-morbidities.
Bommai spoke about the present vaccination trials around the world, and emphasized on caution, till the vaccines are ready for administration for all.
State Health Minister K Sudhakar said, “Three new regional vaccine stores — Bengaluru Urban, Shivamogga and Ballari — have been proposed. These newly proposed stores will require additional walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers.” He further iterated that Karnataka already has 10 walk-in-coolers and four walk-in-freezers. Sudhakar added, “The Centre will supply three walk-in coolers and two walk-in freezers for which necessary civil works are being initiated.”
