13 Maoists killed amid an operation conducted by C-60 commandos at Gadchiroli in Maharashtra

Thirteen Maoists were assassinated in an operation executed by the exclusive C-60 commandos at Gadchiroli in Maharashtra. The police operation was conducted in the forest area revealed Gadchiroli DIG Sandip Patil.

The operation was initiated early morning at 4 am in Paithi jungles based in the Kotmi outpost of the district.

According to the reports of the news agency PTI, the Maiosts had decided to have a meeting in the Paithi forest, for which they had gathered. Patil revealed that the search operation was initiated in the forest after receiving some specific inputs.

Patil stated, “Based on specific inputs, the police party, comprising C-60 commandos, had launched a search operation in the forest.”

Patil added that as the Maoists identified the police officials, they began open firing thereby pressurising the C-60 commandos to retaliate, in which the 13 slain Maoists were killed.

Ankit Goyal, Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli revealed to PTI the details about the encounter, which lasted for almost an hour, after which the surviving Maoists disappeared into the dense forest. The dead bodies of the killed Maoists have been found and another search operation is ongoing in the nearby areas to trace the remaining ones.
