Apollo Hospitals will commence vaccination with Sputnik V from 2nd week of June

With the ongoing vaccination drive in the country, Apollo Hospitals will start with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V from the second week of June, declared the group on Thursday.

Executive Vice-person of Apollo Hospitals, Shobana Kamineni said in a statement, “…Sputnik the third vaccine approved in India [and] will be available through the Apollo system from the 2nd week of June. We believe that no one is safe till everyone is vaccinated.”

As of now, Apollo Group has vaccinated 8more than one million recipients throughout the country with high priority for the frontline workers, corporate staff and more susceptible population, according to the statement.

Shobana further added, “…As the largest vaccinator in the private sector, we will continue to support the Union and State Governments in the fight against this pandemic. We will further ramp up our immunization program. We took 3 weeks to do the first million, in June we will do a million every week and double that in July. We are on track to complete 20 million jabs by September 2021. We would like to thank the Union and State governments and the vaccine manufacturers of Covishield and Covaxin for their support..”

Earlier on May 17, Apollo Hospitals along with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories declared together the launch of a pilot programme for the Sputnik V vaccine, which was much like a soft launch.

The first phase of the vaccination with Sputnik V commenced on May 17 in Hyderabad and on May 18 in Visakhapatnam at Apollo Hospitals.

Meanwhile, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories is currently working on commercially launching Sputnik V throughout the country.
