Assam Police confines three nationals from Nigeria under Foreigners Act

Assam Police has confined three nationals belonging to Nigeria from Karimganj district on the grounds of entering India without any valid documents.

The Karimganj district police was on the routine inspection, when they halted a vehicle traveling from Tripura side on National Highway 8 on Wednesday evening. When the three Nigerian nationals could not produce a valid document, the police took them into custody.

The three foreigners detained are Nnamdi Bernard Nwali, Prince Paul and Eze Collins.

A police official stated, “As per their statement, they came from Nigeria to Delhi before the Covid-19 lockdown and reached Agartala in Tripura during the lockdown relaxation period. They have been staying in Tripura for the past few months. During checking, they failed to produce any valid documents.”

The police officials have filed a case against the three of them based on sections of the Foreign Act, 1946 and Section 6 of the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950.
