Bengaluru to have eight special police stations for cybercrime

The Karnataka government has proposed to establish eight cybercrime police stations among the city locations to meet the technology driven security challenges of the future.

While inaugurating the annual conference for the senior police officials on Friday, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa spoke about the commitment of the government for strengthening and updating the police department for resolving the techie crimes.

Yediyurappa gave the entire credit for the state of Karnataka to be a peaceful state to the police officers and the efforts taken by their department. While addressing the media persons, Yediyurappa said, “In the last one year, as per the official data, the crime rate has come down considerably, suggesting that the law and order situation is under control. The safety of women and children is the top priority of the government and we have taken enough measures in this regard.”

He iterated about the government to have zero tolerance power for terrorism. “We will soon set up anti-terrorist squads in Karnataka,” he said.

Yediyurappa revealed the government has set up 10,134 quarters for the police personnel and further similar units will be set in the few days. He further added, “Helping the police in investigating various crimes, the state government has already taken enough steps to set up a modern forensic laboratory.”

Regarding the recruitment of the state police, Yediyurappa commented, “We have already extended the age group by two years for candidates from SC, ST and OBC for inspector-rank posts. We have also decided to increase women reservation in the force to 25 per cent.”
