Bengaluru’s night curfew to become tighter with fresh guidelines

Amid the newer guidelines released for implementing night curfew by the state government, the police force will shut down major roads, flyovers and key traffic circles throughout the state.
A special permit would be given for supply vehicles to pass over with the government extending further night restrictions imposed particularly over a few cities or towns to the complete state of Karnataka started from Wednesday to May 4.
According to the government orders, City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has released a prohibitory order which came under Section 144 (1) of CrPc which forbids the gathering in public of over 4 people except bus terminals, metro and railway stations and airports.
The orders were also directed to stop all movements and activities iterated in the Covid-19 guidelines of the government issued on Tuesday.
For any person infringing the rules and guidelines adhering to Covid-19, will be subjected to prosecution under several sections of the Disaster Management Act, IPC and Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act.
Pant also said for anybody severely impacted by the orders, can file an appeal for modification of cancellation of rules prior to the state government or the police.
With the intent of preventing unnecessary vehicular movements, Bengaluru City Police barricaded main roads and flyovers which comprises of MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Richmond Street, Double Road, Hosur Road, KG Road, Tumakuru and Mysuru Road. Commercial establishments and malls are closing down following the guidelines. The police force has been appointed at key junctions to see through the curfew orders, apart from intensely patrolling the city.
