Biden might appoint Indian origin Neera Tanden as budget chief

US President Joe Biden will be giving out the names of top members of the economic team, which includes American with Indian origin, Neera Tanden to be in-charge as the director of the Office of Management and Budget, as reported by the New York Times quoting familiar sources associated to the development.

It is anticipated that Biden will name Cecilia Rouse, a Princeton Labour Economist, for running the Council of Economic Advisers and Neera Tanden, who is presently, the chief executive of the Center for American Progress, to be the chief of the Office of Management and Budget, said the New York Times.

The New York Times further reported Biden’s decision to appoint Janet L Yellen, ex Federal Reserve Chair, as Treasury Secretary would most probably be with various women holding top economic positions, which comprises of the first Black woman to head the Council of Economic Advisers and first Indian-American to be the chief of the Office of Management and Budget.

Moreover, Biden would be naming Adewale Adeyeemo as the Deputy Treasury Secretary, who was a senior international economic adviser under former President Barack Obama. Alongside, several women have been chosen for national security positions such as Michele Flournoy as secretary for Defence and Kamla Harris, the Vice President.
