Centre declares changes adhering to mapping policy, Reforms will unlock tremendous opportunities says PM Modi

The Ministry of Science and Technology on Monday declared the “sweeping change” to the country’s mapping policy, particularly for the Indian companies, to push them further to create substantial advances adhering to mapping and ultimately intends to empower the small businesses.

In a release, the Ministry of Science and Technology said, “What is readily available globally does not need to be restricted in India and therefore geospatial data that used to be restricted will now be available free in India.”

The country’s corporator and innovators will no longer be restricted nor would they need any prior approvals before doing things with the Geospatial data and Maps within the premises of the territory, revealed the release.

The release said, “Our government has taken the decision that will provide a huge impetus to Digital India. Liberalising policies governing the acquisition and production of geospatial data is a massive step in our vision for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to the recent reforms iterating about it unlocking “tremendous opportunities” for the start-ups in the country and will also be a benefit for the farmers.

Modi took to Twitter to express his opinions about the reforms. In a tweet, he wrote, “These reforms will unlock tremendous opportunities for our country’s start-ups, private sector, public sector, and research institutions to drive innovation and build scalable solutions. This will also generate employment and accelerate economic growth.”

In another tweet, Modi wrote, “India’s farmers will also be benefited by leveraging the potential of geospatial and remote sensing data. Democratizing data will enable the rise of new technologies & platforms that will drive efficiencies in agriculture and allied sectors.”
