One of the Chinese soldiers had gone missing on Sunday night alongside the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as confirmed by the China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).The PLA has further urged a request appeal to the Indian Army for returning the soldier back as per the standard protocols.
On Monday, the Indian Army revealed about apprehending a Chinese soldier, detected to be a colonel, was traced in the Demchok sector of Eastern Ladakh, post crossing the LAC. PLA further requested Indian Army to retrieve the location of the missing soldier.
The incident occurred at a time, when both the countries have on-going border disputes and deployed soldiers and military equipment heavily in Ladakh.
Colonel Zhang Shuili, the official spokesperson of the Western Theatre Command, declared an official statement about the missing Chinese soldier on Monday night, stating a PLA soldier was reported missing while his quest for yaks on October 18. However, he did not reveal any identity of the soldier.

Zhang told Indian side will extend full cooperation to trace the soldier and send him back post all the investigation and medical tests. “We hope that the Indian side will honour its commitments, promptly transfer the missing person to China, and work with China to promote the implementation of the consensus of the seventh round of military commander-level talks, and jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas,” Zhang’s official statement quoted.
Earlier, in September, five Indians were reported missing from Arunachal Pradesh, who crossed the LAC, and were alleged as PLA spies representing Indian intelligence.An official report from Chinese side quoted, “They recently trespassed the China-India border and entered the Shannan prefecture of Tibet.”
