Ex-IAS officer Sasikant Sentil, from Karnataka to join Congress Party

Ex-IAS officer, from Karnataka cadre, S Sasikant Senthil, who had given his resignation in 2019 stating the reason regarding his inability to continue when “fundamental building blocks of diverse democracy are being compromised,” will be representing Congress Party by joining in Tamil Nadu on Monday.

In conversation with media, he confirmed, “Yes. I have decided to take the political plunge. I will be joining the Congress.”

According to the sources, Senthil will be joining the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) on Monday. It was AICC-in charge of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka Congress leader, Dinesh Gundu Rao, who played a key role in joining Senthil to Congress party.

Senthil will give an official statement about the reasons he joined Congress party when kick-starting his political career. Senthil’s merger with the Congress party is crucial as it comes seven months prior to most crucial state elections.

Alongside, Senthil’s junior colleague, ex-IPS officerAnnamalai joined the BJP in Tamil Nadu;s political curve, and is leading the post of Vice-President of the state in BJP unit.

Post resignation, Senthil also laid criticism on the BJP-led Centre over number of issues and also campaigned against Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) across parts of the country.

In his resignation letter, Senthil wrote, “It is unethical for me to continue as a civil servant in the government when the fundamental building blocks of our diverse democracy are being compromised in an unprecedented manner.” I feel strongly that the coming days will present extremely difficult challenges to the basic fabric of the nation and that I would be better off outside the IAS to continue with my work at making life better for all,” He further added.
