The farmer leaders during the meeting with the Centre on Wednesday have demanded for justice and compensation for the families of the farmers who have lost their lives amid the protests. In the ongoing meeting held at Vigyan Bhawan regarding the three farm laws, Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Narendra Singh Tomar had food with the farmer leaders in the lunch break.
The farmers from across different states of the country have been protesting at the border and still appeal to the government for revoking the laws passed in September. A farmer leader said, “Our stand is clear that the three farm laws should be taken back.”
Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, while heading to the meeting saying the opposition was weak and not supporting the cause as they should. He said, “This is the reason farmers have had come on the roads. The government does not fear them. They should sit in pitched tents and stage protests on roads against the farm laws.” Union Minister Som Prakash mentioned that the government will be having the meeting with an open heart and mind and will focus on resolving the issues so that people can go back to their homes for New Year. This was the seventh round of talks between the Centre and the farmers.
