Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane will be having a meeting with the three service chiefs who are a part of the Bangladesh Armed Forces amid his visit to the country.
MM Naravane commenced his five-day visit to Bangladesh for further enhancing the defence cooperation and strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries. The Indian Army also added that the visit will boost cooperation and coordination amid the two countries over a host of strategic issues.
The visit is after PM Modi had a visit to Bangladesh during March 26-27, when New Delhi and Dhaka formalized MoU in key sectors which includes trade and technology to foster bilateral ties and affirmed the dedication towards evading away terrorism in all forms.
The Army said, “Continuing with the excellent tradition of strong bilateral and defence ties between India and Bangladesh, General MM Naravane, Chief of the Army Staff has proceeded on a visit to Bangladesh from 8 to 12 April 2021.”
Gen Naravane will pay respects to the martyrs of the Liberation War via laying wreath at the Shikha Anirban on Thursday.
The Army added, “This will be followed by one-to-one meetings with the three Service Chiefs of Bangladesh’s Armed Forces. General Naravane will also the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi, where he will pay tributes to Bangladesh’s founding father.”
Gen Naravane will also interact with Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen scheduled for April 11 at Bangladesh Army’s Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka, and will be interacting with Force Commanders of the United Nations Missions in Mali, South Sudan and Central African Republic and Deputy Chief Operations Officer of the Royal Bhutanese Army scheduled for April 12.
