Germany to supply oxygen and medicines for supporting India during the Covid-19 crisis

Germany will be supplying medical oxygen along with medicines to India amid the Covid-19 crisis which has severely affected India during the second wave with a lot of burden imposed on the healthcare infrastructure of the country, revealed German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas on Monday.
According to Sputnik, Maas quoted to Rheinische Post, “(W)e are now using all the levers in the federal government and in discussions with businesses to provide assistance as soon as possible, for example, with oxygen and medicines.”
The minister reiterated that Germany has imposed a ban on the entry of all the people travelling from India apart from the citizens of Germany, commencing from Monday. Maas added, “The second wave is currently rolling over India with the unprecedented power… It was right that we acted quickly to stop the entry of the new mutation into Germany.”
While expressing solidarity with the people of India during the record spike of Covid-19 cases, German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday had said they are geared up for a “mission to support” to support India’s fight against pandemic.
In a message shared by Merkel on Twitter via her spokesperson Steffen Seibert, “To the people of India, I want to express my sympathy on the terrible suffering that COVID-19 has again brought over communities. The fight against the pandemic is our common fight. Germany stands in solidarity with India and is urgently preparing a mission of the support.”
India has reported around 3.52 lakh fresh cases over the last 24 hours, which is the highest single day spike of the COVID-19 cases.
