Proposal to Build Golden Chariot for Chamundeshwari Temple – CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department to submit a proposal for constructing a golden chariot for the historic Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills in Mysuru. The directive follows a request by Legislative Council member Dinesh Gooligowda, who emphasized the temple’s cultural and historical significance.

Proposal Highlights:

• Current State: The existing wooden chariot, donated by devotees from Tamil Nadu, has deteriorated over time.
• Estimated Cost: The construction of the golden chariot is expected to cost around ₹100 crore.
• Funding: Devotees have expressed willingness to contribute, making government financial support unnecessary.
• Timeline: The goal is to complete the chariot in time for the Dasara festival in 2025.

Dinesh Gooligowda proposed that the golden chariot be used for grand processions featuring the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari. He underscored the enthusiastic support from devotees to bring the vision to life without relying on state resources.
