Govt talking with farmers with full sensitivity, anticipating to end the agitation at the earliest, says Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the occasion of Farmers’ Day on Wednesday stated the Centre is discussing the issue with the farmers protesting against the three farm bills with full sensitivity and the Government is anticipating that their agitation and protest would end at the earliest.

The farmers protest has been continuing for 28days now, starting November 26. Rajnath Singh tweeted, “Today, on the occasion of Farmers’ Day, I greet all the contributors of the country. They have provided the country with food security. Some farmers are agitated about agricultural laws. The government is talking to them with full sensitivity. I hope that they will withdraw their protest soon. “

In another tweet, the union minister also remembered ex-Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on the day marking his birth anniversary. Singh further wrote, “Chaudhary Charan Singh wanted that the income of farmers of the country should increase, their crops should get remunerative prices and the honour of the farmers should be protected. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken inspiration from him, and many steps are being taken in the interest of the farmers. They will not let the farmers get hurt in any case.”

Every year, Farmers’s Day is marked on December 23 to pay a tribute to the national contributions of farmers and the people working in agriculture.

Earlier, on Monday, farmers initiated a relay hunger strike, with 11 farmers doing a 24-hour long hunger strike each day. Alongside, Bharatiya Kisan Union Trader had made an appeal to the people to skip a meal on Kisan Diwas which would be in support to the agitation of the farmers.

The farmers’ leaders had several rounds of discussion with the Centre, on their appeal, but no conclusion has been reached as the farmers are hell bound demanding for the contentious farm laws to be repealed. The farmers have been protesting from 28 days now, from the different parts of the country along the borders of the capital city from November 26.
