The Karnataka High Court has an issued an order for the state government to have a systematic and efficient mechanism to report and answer the difficulties encountered by patients at Covid-19 hospitals.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Abhay Shreenivas Oka instructed the BBMP Commissioner to handover the reports of the hospital visits specifically mentioning whether adequate equipment and facilities are available for the patient and the healthcare staff.

After examining the reports submitted by state-level expert committee, the bench stated that the information in the reports presented by the district committee is not clear except for some.

The bench stated, “The object is to ensure that the hospitals are best equipped so that the doctors and other staff members who are relentlessly working are able to discharge their duties in a better manner.”

“Therefore, the state government must consider providing a helpline to such patients to get in touch with the authorities if he or she is not given proper treatment.” the bench further added. The bench further inquired the state government about their strategies to follow the order of Union Government (Sept 25, 2020) associated to the price of the oxygen.
