IAF conducts airlifting of oxygen tankers to filling stations for accelerating the supply

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has commenced the airlifting of big oxygen tankers from their region of utilization to the filling stations throughout the country to accelerate the distribution of much required oxygen, said the IAF on Friday.
During the operation, C-17 and IL-76 aircraft of IAF airlifted two cryogenic oxygen containers and another IL-76 aircraft airlifted an empty container to Panagarh day before, revealed IAF.
This comes at a time when the country is facing shortage of oxygen supply with the surge in the Covid-19 cases and the rising death count. On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a review meeting to discussion the subject of oxygen shortage amid various states of the country and about boosting its availability further. Modi spoke about the requirement to work rapidly on several aspects like increase in production of oxygen, accelerating the speed of distribution and utilizing innovative strategies to provide assistance adhering to oxygen supply and health facilities.
Alongside, India has registered 3,32,730 fresh cases of Covid-19 over the last 24 hours, which is the highest single day surge in the cases since the pandemic started in 2020. India has now crossed the mark of three lakh for two days in a row, and raised the overall caseload of the Covid-19 to 1,62,63,695. As per the data released by the Union Health Ministry, 2,263 new deaths have happened in the last 24 hours due to Covid-19.
