With the Indian Medical Association (IMA) highly criticizing Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan for promoting the Divya Coronil Tablets of Patanjali for the treatment of Covid-19, the Patanjali Research Foundation Trust on Wednesday stated that the remarks given by IMA are uncalled for.
During the press conference where Baba Ramdev declared Coronil Tablets to be a part of Covid-19 treatment. Dr Harsh Vardhan was present. After a while, Baba Ramdev claimed about Coronil tablets to have received the certification from the World Health Organization, which was dismissed was WHO.
On Wednesday, Patanjali said, “Our honourable health minister never undermined modern medicine. Rather his presence in the event showed his sincere efforts as a health minister to provide acceptability to other forms of medicinal systems.”
The Coronil Tablets have been approved for the CoPP license (Certificate of pharmaceutical Product), Patanjali has iterated that the certificate is compliant with the Good manufacturing Practices of WHO and the same has been directed towards Coronil by the Drugs Controller General of India according to the defined quality parameters.
Patanjali said, “We have shared all our research data with the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. The ministry has approved and categorically agreed for Coronil as medicine for Covid-19 management.”
Patanjali further stated, “Coronil is an evidence-based medicine with integration of scientifically validated research evidences under pre-clinical and clinical expertise. The composition of this medicine has been disclosed to public at large, and had been thoroughly reviewed and scrutinised by the competent licensing authorities.”
