India and Bangladesh did a collective review pertaining to the progress in bilateral relations amid the Foreign Office Consultations that happened between them on Friday. They further had a discussion about the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi planned for March to Dhaka and about the commemoration of the 50th anniversary adhering to the origin of diplomatic ties.
The meeting was led by Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla from the Indian side and co-chaired by Masud Bin Momen, his Bangladeshi counterpart.
A release from the Ministry of External Affairs iterated that both the countries had an intricate review of the progress attained in bilateral relationship, inclusive of the areas of Covid-19 cooperation, trade, connectivity, development partnership, power, energy and water resources, regional and multilateral cooperation along with border management and security and defence cooperation.
The release added, “The discussion also focused on preparations for the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Dhaka in March 2021 and events relating to commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties were also discussed.”
The release revealed about the sides have lauded the close cooperation between the countries and India’s gift of 2 million doses of Covishield vaccines for Bangladesh has been duly acknowledged and appreciated with Neighbourhood First Policy.
Both the countries have expressed their content about the bilateral exchanges despite Covid-19. Both the countries have mutually agreed to maintain the stable momentum adhering to bilateral cooperation and public ties and facilitation of easy travel between the two countries.
