Around nine consignments consisting of medical supplies and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) were sent to Bhutan by India between March – December 2020 to help them in the crisis invoked by the Covid-19 induced pandemic, according to the statement released on Thursday by the Indian Embassy in Bhutan.
Following the tweet posted by the Indian High Commission, assistance was provided via sending RT-PCR testing kits, and portable X-ray machines. The tweet read, “Standing shoulder to shoulder with Bhutan during times of COVID-19! 9 consignments containing RT-PCR test kits, a portable X-ray machine, medical supplies and PPE equipment were handed over during March – December 2020.”
In its initiative to help Bhutan battle the Covid-19 pandemic, India, in the month of December delivered a consignment of RT-PCR Covid-19 testing kits which would be used for testing 20,000 times. The ninth consignment consisting of medical supplies was handed over in Phuentsholing, Bhutan.
India will keep providing the required assistance to Bhutan to battle its fight against Covid-19 pandemic, stated the Embassy of India, Thimphu. Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, had given a statement on December 24 which said, “India stands alongside Bhutan. Together we will fight the Covid-19 pandemic, through a sustainable recovery.”
Bhutan has reported 755 Covid-19 cases in total as reported by the John Hopkins University.
