India supports Nepal with ventilators, ambulances amid Covid-19 crisis

With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, India has supplied medical aid which comprises ventilators and ambulances to Nepal to support its current battle with the deadly virus.

As a gesture of friendship and close ties between India and Nepal, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra handed over the supplies to Chief of the Nepali Army General Purna Chandra Thapa on Friday.

The official Twitter handle of the Indian Embassy in Nepal stated, “India and Nepal fighting COVID-19 together. As a gesture of solidarity and close cooperation, medical equipment including Ventilators and Ambulances was handed over today by Ambassador Kwatra to General Purna Chandra Thapa, Chief of the Nepali Army.”

Currently, Nepal is experiencing shortage of medical facilities and also vaccine doses of Covid-19, which led to halt of the vaccination drive started on Tuesday and scheduled till Saturday.

The vaccination drive in Kathmandu has paused as the allocated vaccine doses were exhausted two days prior than scheduled. The cumulative caseload of Covid-19 in Nepal is 601,687 on Thursday with 2,874 additional people tested Covid-19 positive for the infection, according to the recent data released by the health ministry.
