ISRO plans to launch Amazonia-1, 18 co-passenger satellites onboard PSLV-C51 scheduled for February 28.

The Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) revealed on Thursday about the primary satellite Amazonia-1 of Brazil and 18 co-passenger satellites onboard (PSLV-C51) proposed to be launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) Sriharikota Range (SHAR) to be scheduled for February 28.

ISRO said, “PSLV-C51, which is the 53rd mission of PSLV, will launch Amazonia-1 of Brazil as primary satellite and 18 Co-passenger satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. The launch is tentatively scheduled at 1024 Hours IST on February 28, 2021, subject to weather conditions.”

The launch rehearsal for PSLV-C51 was conducted on Thursday and was completed successfully.

The PSLV-C51 is the first committed mission of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) which comes under the Department of Space, Government of India. Amazonia-1, the optical earth observation satellite will be further strengthening the current structure by providing the users with remote sensing data for assessing deforestation in the Amazon Region.
