To further strengthen the India-Japan partnership, Japan Prime Minister Abe Shinzo has signed the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement with India. The India-Japan deal comes with a positive outlook to ensure complete cooperation between defence forces of India and Japan. The deal was acknowledged in the telephonic conversation held between PM Modi and Abe Shinzo.

In a series of tweets, Japan PM Abe Shinzo has confirmed the news. He tweeted, “Signed the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement with India. This will promote close cooperation between the Self-Defense Forces and the Indian Armed Forces, and Japan and India will work together to actively contribute to the peace and security of the international community. It is a big foundation for that.”

“We had a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday and welcomed the signing of the agreement. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he visits each other’s countries every year and spends a lot of time together, sharing the vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific, and dramatically expanding the cooperative relationship between Japan and India, including security. I was able to strengthen it.” Abe Shinze tweeted earlier this morning. Abe, serving the longest tenure of PM, had announced his retirement last month citing health reasons. To which PM Modi had tweeted, ”In recent years, with your wise leadership and personal commitment, the India-Japan partnership has become deeper and stronger than ever before. I wish and pray for your speedy recovery.”
