Karnataka Dy CM assesses the progress of Kempegowda’s 108 ft statue in Noida

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwathnarayan, and Adichunchanagiri Math chief pontiff Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswami on Saturday had a tour to Uttar Pradesh’s Noida for assessing the status of the preparatory stage of the work done fir the 108 feet tall statue of Sri Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, Bengaluru’s founder at the Bengaluru International Airport.

Their tour included visit to the studio of the famous sculptor Ram Sutar in Noida and assess the work in progress. As per the details issued by Ram Sutar, the statue construction will be in three stages. In the first stage, prototype curated by Thermocoal. Presently the status is till the chest level whereas the ‘Head Portion’ is in process for another studio.

Post reviewing the work, Ashwathnarayan was briefing the reporters, “This 108 feet tall stature (90 feet upper portion + 18 feet in the basement) is being prepared using modern technology. This is estimated to cost about 65 crores and there will be no compromise in the quality. The statue will be mounted next year.”

Mahaswami, who was quite content with the progress of the construction work stated, “Earlier, it was planned to install the statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda at the Bengaluru International Airport in June 2021, to mark his birth anniversary. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the preparatory stage of work was obstructed, and the project got delayed. It may take about eight to nine months for the statue to be completed. Along with the erection of the statue at the designated site, Kempegowda heritage park will also be set up.”

On June 27, 2020, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had conducted the ceremony for statue’s erection and for building of the Kempegowda Heritage Park on June 27, 2020. The statue will be mounted in the land of 23 acres.
