Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwathnarayan declared that the state government will be putting forth bills to stand up against ‘love jihad’ and cow slaughter.
Ashwathnarayan stated to media, “Many states have already brought in the bills. We are also in the process of bringing bills against ‘love jihad’ and to impose a ban on cow slaughter.
After the death of the 21-year-old youth, who was killed point blank after coming out of college by his friend and stalker in Ballabgarh in October, the issue of ‘love jihad’ has been much talked out.
A while ago, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel had declared about the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance 2020 to tackle with the religious conversion merely for marriage. The move was instituted post Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet on November 24, has passed the ordinance, and has presented the imprisonment of 10 years for ‘love jihad; and associated offences.
Alongside, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also presented to add into the legislation for preventing ‘forced religious conversions’.
The BJP led-government in Karnataka is supposedly going to launch a bill against cow slaughter amid the forthcoming legislative assembly meeting. A while ago, the subject was the matter of discussion at a cabinet meeting conducted in Bengaluru.
