The Karnataka High issued an order on Wednesday for the state government to assure that the investigating team working on the probe of the hospital bed scam should also involve cyber experts.

The bench scrutinized the status report of the investigation and accordingly instructed the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) to lodge the upcoming status report about the case.

The bench stated, “Looking into the sensitive nature of the allegations it is necessary that the investigation is regularly monitored by an experienced senior IPS officer. Secondly, it is necessary for the state government to consider whether an investigating team consisting of officers having expertise in different fields such as cyber crime are part of the team.”

Additional Advocate General intimated the court that Joint Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil will be looking into the investigation and a team has been constituted for the same. Meanwhile, two crimes are filed associated with the bed scam, one in HSR layout and another in Jayanagar Police Station, which is being supervised by Central Crime Branch (CCB), he added.

Alongside, the court turned down the hearing for the PIL lodged by a Youth Congress leader which was about suspending certain employees working in BBMP’s war room. A division bench consisting of Chief Justice along with Justice Suraj Govindaraj was hearing the petition lodged by Y B Srivatsa. The bench noted that one of the petitions was to review the cause related to the suspension of certain employees. The bench said, “ The persons who have been suspended can always approach the court. The petitioner is not a pro bono petitioner. Only on that ground, we dispose of this petition.”
