As farmers protest continues near the borders of New Delhi, the nurses and the medical staff from Punjab have joined the farmers in their protest and agitation along Singhu border. Some nurses merged with the farmers to protest at the site and provide support and medical assistance as when they would require it.
Harshdeep Kaur, a nurse in the Ludhiana hospital, told to ANI that they would support and give medical aid to the farmers in the cold weather of New Delhi.
Kaur said, “We are here to support farmers protest but we also want to serve them if they are ill. Medical treatment is the basic requirement for everyone because if the chilling weather we would like to serve the farmers if they require.”
Sukhman Kaur, a doctor highlighted the courage of the Punjab women, and iterated about being the descendent of Mata Gujri, who is an icon of courage in the Punjab history, and we have come here as a move to support the farmers. Everybody in Punjab strongly demands the revoking of the laws.
Alongside, tattoo artists in a group have formed a stall at the protest site for supporting the farmers. The tattoos include a map of Punjab, the head of a lion, frames of farmers harvesting the crops, holding farm equipment, tractor among others. The tattoos also comprise of slogans and motivational quotes too, which included ‘kar har maidan Fateh’ and ‘nishchay kar apni jeet karo’.
Hundreds of farmers have been protesting from different parts of the country since November 26, against the three farm laws passed by the Centre in September which includes Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
