The Indian Navy released a video which displayed the successful launch of an anti-ship missile on Friday by the Mission Corvette INS Prabal which depicted utmost precision at the most range and at drowning the target ship.
Indian Navy spokesperson posted the missile launch video on Twitter. The launch of the missile took place somewhere in the vicinity of the Arabian Sea, targeted an old ship and hit it with accuracy right at the maximum range. The spokespersons tweeted, “AShM launched by Indian Navy Missile Corvette INS Prabal, homes on with deadly accuracy at max range, sinking target ship.”
On Thursday, Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff, conducted a review of the operating readiness of multiple front line ships belonging to Indian Navy, which also consisted of Carrier Battle Group constituting of INS Vikramaditya.
The anti-ship missile, which is, basically a Veer-class Missile Corvette, was designed and structured by Mazagon Dock Limited in Mumbai, and was instituted in the Indian Navy in April 2002.
The missile is launched only within a few days post the test-firing of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from INS Chennai into the Arabian Sea.
Over the past several years, India has had 13 successful missile tests.
