More than 7 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India: Government

The total count of Covid-19 doses administered in the country have reached over seven crore with 12,76,191 doses given as of 8 pm on Friday, as reported by the Health Ministry as India recorded this year’s most cases on a single day spike of 81,466 cases of the viral infection.

As of now, 1,23,03,131 people have been tested COVID-19 positive in the country, as per the provisional report released till 7 pm on Friday. Till 8 pm, the country administered 7,06,18,026 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, from which around 6,13,56,345 people have been given the first dose, and 92,61,681 people were given the second dose.

The ministry revealed the figures constituted 89,03,809 health care workers (HCWs) along with 95,15,410 frontline workers (FLWS) have received the first dose and around 52,86,132 HCWs and 39,75,549 FLWs have received the second dose. The ministry further added that 4,29,37,126 beneficiaries above 45 years of age given the first dose.

The ministry said, “Total 12,76,191 vaccine doses were given till 8 pm on Friday, the 77th day of nationwide COVID-19 vaccination,” further adding that 12,40,764 have been administered the first dose and 35,427 beneficiaries received the second dose according to the provisional report and the final figures compilation will be ready by the night.

As of the data for April 2, a count of 11,83,917 people above 45 years received the first dose. Over 36.7 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses were given on April 1, which the ministry said is the highest single day coverage.
