As the schools are shut for over eight months now to contain the transmission of Covid-19 pandemic, chief minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to urge the Union government to have a clarification regarding the timeframe for conducting Board and Higher Secondary examinations and the duration pertaining to the academic year 2020-21, which will give clarity to the class X and Class XII students and help them accordingly prepare for the exams.
In a letter addressed to Narendra Modi, he wrote, “In absence of clarity on academic session and conduct of both Standard X and XII Board examinations, all enrolled students and their parents and teachers are in the state of uncertainty. It is leading to anxiety among us all.”
Patnaik further added, As all competitive entrance examinations and admissions in institutions of higher education are interlinked, national guidelines with tentative timelines will help the states for framing appropriate strategy. It will also help the students to plan their preparations accordingly.”
The chief minister further iterated about the educational institutions continue to remain closed till December 2020. Regarding the same, he stated, “The educational institutions are closed in the state due to COVID-19 since March 17, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Keeping in view the safety and security of students and after consultation with different stakeholders and experts, we have decided to keep educational institutions closed up to December 31, 2020.’
