Nepal’s foreign minister positively acknowledges India’s invite for India-Nepal minister-level meeting: Officials

Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla sent an invitation to Nepali Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, which he acknowledged positively for the upcoming Nepal-India minister level meeting to be organized next month in Delhi to ‘discuss the issues of mutual interest’, according to a Nepali official.

An official from Nepal foreign ministry gave the confirmation, “FS Shringla extended the invitation to discuss the issues of mutual interest that will be beneficial for both the nations. The invitation has been extended for minister level meeting for December. Nepali foreign minister responded positively.”

Shringla, during his two-day visit to Nepal, when reached Kathmandu, called for President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. He also visited Nepali foreign minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and Nepali counter part. Bharat Raj, Paudyel.

Amid the meeting, Harsh Vardhan Shringla extended the invitation passed by  External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to Gyawali for visiting India for The upcoming Joint Commission Meeting. During the visit to Nepal, Shringla handed over 2,000 Remdesvir’s injections which is a part of India’s assistance to Nepal for Civid-19 pandemic. PM Oli thanked India fir assisting Nepal in management of Covid-19 and further talked about vaccine development and deployment.

While arriving Nepal, Shringla iterated on the strong ties between India and Nepal. He said, “Our bilateral relations are age-old and historic, we have something which very few countries have. We have civilization ties that come not from centuries but millennia.”

Shringla further addressed the media, “Even during the worst phase of COVID-19 pandemic, we ensured that great essential supplies and commodities continue to flow between our two countries, and today we are looking at the responsibility of taking our relationship further, faster and to greater heights.”
