Over thousands of teachers and non-teaching staff protest over fee cut in Bengaluru

Thousands were protesting in a rally today which included the school teachers, non-teaching staff of private schools and representatives of the management which was initiated by the teaching and non-teaching staff coordination committee representing the Karnataka Private Unaided School Managements.

The protest rally was pushed forth for demanding the state government to deliberate on the demands, particularly adhering to the latest government order of 30% deduction in the school fee and the delayed payments for the teaching and non-teaching staff amid the pandemic induced lockdown. 

The rally commenced from Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Station at 10 am in the morning and arrived at Freedom Park comprising of over 30,000 people protesting in unison.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar arrived at the spot and assured to hold another round of talks with parents and school management for resolving the issues. Suresh Kumar revealed, “We had given time for school managements and parents to come to a conclusion over the fee row, but when they failed to find a solution we, the government intervened and taken a decision after discussing with all stakeholders.”

He further added, “The school managements are saying the fee cut has become 50% to 60% in reality. If that is the case, we are open for discussion and let the private school managements submit their suggestion.”
