Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the World Sustainable Development Summit 2021 scheduled for February 10 at 6:30 PM through the mode of video conferencing.
A press release by the Prime Minister’s Office stated, “The theme of the Summit is ‘Redefining our common future: Safe and secure environment for all.”
At the summit several world leaders will be present like H.E. Dr Mohammed Irfaan Khan Ali, President representing the Cooperative Republic of Guyana; Honourable James Marape, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Mohammed Nasheed, Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Republic of Maldives; Amina J Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, United Nations, along with Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.
The 20th edition of The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) flagship event, the World Sustainable Development Forum, will be organized in the virtual format from February 10-12, 2021. The Summit will be a union of several governments, business leaders, academicians, youth, climate scientists along with the civil society to take a step against the climate change.
The Summit will be organized in partnership with India’s Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Ministry of Earth Sciences and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The major issues which will be addressed in the summit are – Energy and industry transition, adaptation and resilience, nature-based solutions, climate finance, clean oceans and air pollution.
