The Punjab Cabinet had passed the approval of restructuring of five additional departments with the intent to have more jobs throughout the departments and also improve the financial efficiency via optimization utilization of manpower.
As per the statement released by Punjab government, the decision was taken by the Cabinet headed by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the creation of 1.875 posts and there are 3,720 already present posts which had become defunct and were to be surrendered.
The statement further named the five departments which are supposed to be Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Social Security and Women and Child Development, Planning, Social Justice Empowerment and Minorities and Civil Aviation.
According to the proposed plan of restructuring the Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Department, the Cabinet took the call of giving green signal and abolish several posts digressing into categories of Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners and also the recently appointed Sub-Tehsils and Sub-Divisions in charge of the Commissioner Faridkot Divison
For several other departments like Social Security and Child Development, 124 posts to make way for 12 new ones and 101 seats to be deployed. For the Planning Department, 219 posts have been created for the 673 which were defunct and for the Social Justice Empowerment and Minority Department 285 posts are taken away for 147 new ones.
On October 14, 2020, the Cabinet had approved a State Employment Plan 2020-22 fir filling up the vacant jobs left in the government boards, departments, boards, corporations and agencies in a phased manner.
