Former finance secretary and ex-IAS officer, Rajeev Kumar is appointed as the new Election by the central government. Rajeev Kumar is replacing Ashok Lavasa who had resigned from the post. He joined the Election Commission of India on Tuesday with the Chief Sunil Arora and Sushil Chandra.
Kumar has around thirty years of experience in public policy and administration working across social sector, Environment & Forests, Human Resources, Finance and Banking Sector. He was designated as the finance secretary in July 2019 when the public sector banks were into losses. Rajeev Kumar is expected to oversee the general elections which will be held in 2024.
