Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday had a discussion with his Australian counterpart Peter Dutton, where they talked about the respective measures taken by the countries to resolve the Covid-19 crisis, while mutually agreeing mutually to convene the 2+2 Dialogue as soon as possible.
In a number of tweets, Singh emphasized the strategic partnership between India and Australia and the warm people-to-people contact. He reemphasized on the complete commitment from India to initiate a strategic partnership with Canberra.
Singh tweeted, “Spoke to Australian Minister of Defence, Peter Dutton about the measures taken by both the countries to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. India and Australia share a warm and people to people contact underpinned by a strategic partnership.”
He further tweeted, “India remains fully committed to the implementation of comprehensive strategic partnership with Australia. Both sides look forward to convening the Ministerial 2+2 Dialogue at the earliest opportunity.”
India and Australia are a part of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue – that is a security alliance also constituting the United States and Japan. The Quad countries engage in military and naval exercises, freedom of navigation, rule-based order and diplomatic issues.
