Rajya Sabha approved for 7 key bills in a period of 3.5 hours

The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday had one of its best productive days as it approved for seven chief bills  in a time-frame of just three and a half hours. One of those bills also includes removal of cereals, pulses and onion as a part from essential commodities and another also includes abolishing penalty for some marked offences in the Companies Act.

The participation in the bills was mostly supported majorly by members from the ruling BJP, and other parties such as AIADMK, BJD, YSR-Congress and TDP.

The first bill was passed which proclaimed five newly established Indian Institutes of Information Technologies (IIITs) of national importance. Following this was the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, which evaded out cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onions and potatoes from the essential commodities.

The other bills passed were Companies (Amendment ) Bill, 2020, National Forensic Sciences University Bill, 2020 and the Rashtriya Rakash University Bill.

The next bill in order was Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation and Amendment of Certain Provisions) Bill, 2020 which would ease out the time limit on compliance with tax laws and GST Payment and filing considering the Coronavirus emergency. All the key seven bills have been approved by the Lok Sabha, and will be further transferred to the President for hos assent
