SC adjourned the November 5 hearing on appeals urging for an extension of loan moratorium

The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing scheduled for November 5 hearing on the appeals urging for an extension of the loan moratorium and waiver of interest on term-loans amid the moratorium period of 6 months.

A three-judge bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan delayed the hearing post Solicitor Tushar Mehta wanted adjournment, as he had to present in front of another bench which was connected to hearing the appeals regarding the Central Vista Construction Project.

“We defer the hearing. We will hear the case day after tomorrow, (November 5),” said Justice Ashok Bhushan. The petitioners also gave their consent to the argument of Mehta for prolonging the date.

The Supreme Court was hearing the petitions, which includes two petitions registered, first by Gajendra Sharma and Vishal Tiwari, urging for putting of the interest on loans and other pertinent directions for the loan moratorium, granted as a relief measure for the ones having financial struggle
