The airfares for the India-US flights have had a tremendous hike post the advisory issued by the American government for the citizens to stop travelling to India with the worsening Covid-19 situation in the country, according to the civil aviation sources revealed on Sunday.
Normally, the average price of the ticket from India to US is around ₹50,000, however, the prices for the upcoming week are around ₹1.5 lakh, revealed the sources. The spike in the fares is due to the increase in the demand post the issued advisory.

One of the sources revealed, “Many passengers want to go to US immediately as they don’t want to get stuck here if further restrictions are put in place on India-US flights.”

Likewise, several other countries such as Germany, the UK, and the UAE have also imposed a travel ban for the travellers from India. The UAE has also imposed a travel ban from India for 10 days starting from Sunday due to the extreme conditions of Covid-19 in the country.

The US government had announced on Thursday about putting over Level – 4 Travel Advisory for India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Maldives, thereby implying the Americans to not travel to these countries.

Alongside, the private chartered flights within the country are also in very high demand, with the intent of helping the travel of Covid-19 patients to be shifted from smaller cities to bigger cities.
An official manging the chartered flights in Mumbai revealed that his planes have been occupied for last two days as they have been conducted consistent air ambulance flights for the high net-worth people.
The price-range of the chartered flights have been raised up to two times, stated a Delhi-based general aviation company official. India has registered 3,49,691 fresh cases of Covid-19 raising the total tally to 1,69,60,172 and the active cases in the country have crossed 26 lakh. The fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours are 2,767 rising the total count to 1,92,311 according to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry.
